A unique native variety
The Nascetta of Novello is an homage to the region of Novello, a valued addition to the wine varieties offered by the Langa hills and a direct descendant of a grape variety native to the region, which had almost completely disappeared until a few years ago.
This white wine immediately became the focus of production for Le Strette, with the first experimental batches produced in 1997 and the first 800 bottles marketed in 1999, cementing Le Strette’s position as one of the pioneers of this rediscovery.
After an administrative process in which Le Strette played a leading role, in 2010, "Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello" was granted official recognition as a sub-region, regulated by its own production specification. This recognition sanctioned the historical base in the municipality of origin (all the grapes must be cultivated within its boundaries) and the use of 100% Nascetta grapes in the wine-making process.
