Barolo Bergera Pezzole

Barolo Bergera Pezzole

Personality and strength
Barolo Bergera Pezzole is a crü made by Le Strette with the grapes cultivated on a hill of the commune of Novello where Nebbiolo has returned to express a great personality in all its splendour. The works performed in the vineyard, which aims to obtain the maximum balance between the development of the leaves and of the grapes through short pruning, a balanced green harvest and an ideal distribution of the grapes on the vine, are followed by the greatest care during the harvest. In the cellar the grapes are soft-pressed and the maceration lasts from 20 to 25 days. The ageing ranges from 28 to 32 months: in this period colour, tannins and fragrance combine together while the wine rests in wood, which balances them perfectly thanks to a slow oxygenation.

Vine: Nebbiolo CNV 142
Position: commune of Novello, vineyard planted in 1999
Surface: 0.60 Ha
Average yearly production: 1,500 bottles
complex, austere on the palate, with spicy and balsamic notes of flowers, cinnamon, dried fruit and cocoa

Barolo Bergeisa

Barolo Bergeisa

Structure and elegance
Barolo Bergeisa is a crü made by Le Strette with the grapes cultivated in the heart of the Barolo district, where the conditions allow us to obtain a structured and elegant wine at the same time. The vineyard has a south-eastern exposure: this factor, combined with the steep gradient of the slope, enables the perfect ripening of the grapes, which can then express the best qualities of a great Barolo.
Also in this case the works performed in the vineyard aim to respect the natural balance and to find the perfect ratio between leaves and grapes, in order to better exploit the sun exposure and the potential of a great soil. The grapes are soft-pressed and the maceration - which lasts 18-22 days - prepares the wine for the ageing: 28-32 months in wood will provide a perfect balance of colour, tannins and fragrance through the slow oxygenation.
Bergeisa is a structured and elegant Barolo, which gives its best after only 4-5 years. It is very balanced, with a nose that recalls wild berries (blackberry, raspberry), flowers (violet and rose), and liquorice with the ageing. It goes very well with red meat, game and medium mature to very mature cheeses.

Vine: Nebbiolo Michet and Lampia
Position: commune of Barolo, vineyard planted in 1980
Surface: 0.5 Ha.
Average yearly production: 3,000 bottles

Barolo "Le Strette"

Barolo

Back to the origins of Barolo
To narrate the vineyards and their differences: this is the most important thing for Le Strette and the goal of each harvest; nevertheless, nature does not always highlight the peculiar character of the different nebbiolo vineyards, also due to the very favourable weather conditions of some vintages. So Le Strette returned to old methods, when Barolo was made using the grapes from different Nebbiolo vineyards, trying to extract a special character from each region, to obtain a unique and complete wine. This choice is taken before the bottling for the vintages in which the different Barolos result rather similar to each other after the ageing in wood. Blending the wines that are not bottled as single crüs is a way to express a synergy of feelings through Barolo Le Strette, creating a wine that offers intense emotions coming from different soils.

Vine: Nebbiolo Michet and Lampia
Position: vineyards in the hamlets of Bergera, Pezzole, Pallaretta and Bergeisa in the communes of Novello and Barolo.
Average yearly production: 2,000-4,000 bottles
Characteristics: it can be structured and austere. The fragrance ranges from wild berries to spices, to floral or vegetable notes.

Langhe Rosso Danuel

Langhe Rosso Danuel

A new wine … from the tradition
The wine officially joined the product range of Le Strette only in 2009, this Langhe Rosso derives from an idea developed after some years of testing: to blend several vineyards in a single wine, without forgetting the philosophy of the territory and the principle that the Langa should produce only single-vineyard wines.
It has not anything to do with international wines; on the contrary this wine is deeply related to the region, trying to take in the glass the best emotions offered by the three Langa red wines in the area of Novello.
DANUEL is a blend that consists of variable quantities of Barbera (40-60%), Dolcetto (35-45%) and Nebbiolo (10-15%), made from grapes cultivated exclusively in the region of Novello (the name Danuel means “from Novello).
The grapes are processed separately and each wine is aged separately for one year, after this period the quantity of each single kind of wine is determined and the wines are blended; the final product is aged for a couple of months before being bottled.
Each kind of grape expresses its own characteristics, to obtain a red wine with good ageing potential and fruity notes, complex and easy to drink at the same time, with good structure, elegance and personality. It is perfect with savoury and robust starters, first and second courses.

Vine: Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo in variable quantities, depending on the vintage year.
Position: commune of Novello.
Average yearly production: 1,300 bottles

Barbera d’Alba Pezzole

Barbera d’Alba Pezzole

Rustic but elegant personality
Barbera d’Alba Pezzole has been produced by Le Strette since 1997, the year of the first harvest. The extraordinary position on the hill Bergera – Pezzole, the perfect integration between vineyard and local microclimate, together with the carefully performed works on the vines, most of which are 70 years old or more, allow to obtain rich grapes that give a fascinating wine with intense colour, a rich bouquet characterized by notes of red berries (red currant and blueberries) and elegant floral fragrances.
The aging for 12 months in second and third passage 225-litre barrique barrels ensures a complete maturation and a special roundness and harmony, which complete the typical freshness of this wine.
La Barbera d’Alba Pezzole can be served with savoury first courses, white meat and medium-mature cheeses.

Dolcetto Rocca dei Bergera

Dolcetto Rocca dei Bergera

Classic but peculiar
Dolcetto Rocca dei Bergera was the first wine to be marketed: with the vintage 1997 the winery made its debut among the Langa producers. The special features of the soil in the hamlet of Bergera express in this Dolcetto, matching the typical elegance and delicacy of the Dolcetto of the Langhe, good structure and spicy aromas, which makes the final product a full-bodied wine. The grapes are processed in order to maintain these characteristics: short maceration at low temperatures, 5-6 of contact with the skins, malolactic fermentation and storing in stainless steel tanks: this way the wine reaches its ideal balance within about one year after the harvest.
The Dolcetto Rocca dei Bergera shows an intensive colour, fruity aromas and spicy notes. It goes well with any dish and is perfect for everyday consumption. Thanks to the soil properties, it can be preserved in the bottle for several years.

Nas-Cëtta di Novello

Nas-Cëtta di Novello

A unique autochthonous product
Nascetta of Comune di Novello is a homage to the territory of Novello, an added value to the range of the Langa wines and is an autochthonous product of Novello, which had almost disappeared until a few years ago. In 1988 Savio, who was a student at the Oenological School of Alba, tasted Nascetta for the first time. Le Strette immediately focused its attention on this white wine and in 1999, after a test period of two years, they marketed the first 800 bottles, being among the pioneers of this re-discovery. Thanks to the collaboration among producers, winegrowers and the local administration of Novello, the Nascetta project has developed over the years: at present the vine has been acknowledged at a national level and the wine arouses the interest of the most attentive consumers. In 2010 the “Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello” obtained the official acknowledgment as a sub-region with a production specification. Le Strette has always been in the forefront during this process, which finally established the historical base in the commune of origin (all the grapes must be cultivated within its boundaries) and the use of 100% Nascetta grapes for the winemaking.
