The Pasinot® Project

The Pasinotti Hill represents a central chapter in the history of Nas-cëtta. Located on the southern slope of Novello, just outside the Barolo DOCG production area, it is an ideal site for cultivating both Nebbiolo and Nas-cëtta thanks to its calcareous soil and excellent sun exposure.

Here stands the oldest existing Nas-cëtta vineyard, dating back to the 1940s. For many years, its grapes were blended with those of other Novello vineyards, contributing to Le Strette’s signature Nas-cëtta del Comune di Novello.

Langhe Landscape

In 2014, Le Strette launched the “PASINOT® Project”, an initiative aimed at enhancing this historic hill through the acquisition of five hectares that include old vineyards and truffle woodlands.

The project has restored approximately one hectare of vineyard. Three main objectives guide the initiative:

Study and bottle the distinctive characteristics of Nas-cëtta grown on this hill, identifying its historic cru.

Preserve and multiply the biodiversity of old Nas-cëtta vines, creating a collection vineyard with about 750 vines derived from 29 healthy mother plants selected across various Novello vineyards, including the historic Pasinotti plot.

Enhance Nebbiolo and the unique character this hill imparts, with the long-term goal of producing Nebbiolo d’Alba under the Le Strette label.

Langhe Landscape

Since 2015, the PASINOT® label has been used, beginning with a limited production of 500 bottles, made exclusively from the grapes of the historic vineyard. In 2018, the restored vineyards started producing fruit for Langhe Nas-cëtta DOC PASINOT®.

Finally, in 2019, the first single-variety Nebbiolo vinification was completed, further strengthening Le Strette’s winemaking philosophy and deep connection to tradition.
