Barolo DOCG from Novello

Closing the Circle

First produced with the 2019 vintage, this Barolo highlights once again the unwavering attention that Le Strette devotes to expressing the unique traits of the Novello territory.

And this time, the winery does so—with pioneering spirit—as the first Barolo producer to craft a wine dedicated specifically to the municipality of Novello. With this wine, Le Strette completes the “circle” it began drawing at the very founding of the estate: a vision centred on enhancing the uniqueness and potential of Novello’s viticultural heritage, bringing it more and more into the spotlight and offering wine lovers new emotions with every vintage.

In the Vineyard

Municipality of Novello, from the Bergera-Pezzole and Corini-Pallaretta crus

  • Altitude: 280–420 m a.s.l.
  • Soils: various calcareous-based soils—sometimes distinctly clay-rich, other times alternating between looser, sandier areas and more compact zones with stronger clay presence, depending on location
  • Variety: Nebbiolo
  • Vine density: 4,200–4,500 plants/ha
  • Training system: Guyot on vertical trellising
  • Planting years: 1976–2014

In the Cellar

  • Obtained through a pre-bottling blend, in proportions that vary by vintage, of the Barolo wines produced in Bergera-Pezzole and Corini-Pallaretta—two Geographical Mentions entirely located within the section of the Barolo DOCG area that falls in Novello
  • Gentle crushing and destemming
  • Maceration for 25–35 days
  • Aging of each Barolo component in small oak barrels and larger casks for a total of 28–32 months, before blending and bottling

In the Glass

  • Color: garnet red with ruby highlights
  • Nose: a rich and multifaceted bouquet born from the synergy of the two distinct terroirs; floral and spicy notes merge in a new equilibrium that reveals itself differently in every glass
  • Palate: shows body and structure, where the austerity of Bergera-Pezzole gently melts into the freshness of Pallaretta, creating a perfectly balanced and highly compelling union

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with red meats, aged cheeses, white meats and medium-aged cheeses.
